DYLAN’s LEMONADE STAND

A LETTER FROM DYLAN LEEDER’s FAMILY:

Dear Community,

As you all already know, Dylan has spent the past two months in chemotherapy, and is in remission today. He will continue with a chemo protocol for another six months. If all goes well, Dylan will rejoin his classmates in school this October.

The odds of surviving Leukemia stand at 90%.  This means 10% of impacted families will face dire circumstances.  Make no mistake, the Leeder family considers ourselves lucky.

Now it’s our turn to push back on cancer.  On Thursday, May 31, the Leeder family and the SSPP community will host a lemonade stand and carnival. The event’s intent is threefold:

  • Empower the school’s children with an understanding of how to make positive change
  • Raise money to fund the battle against childhood cancer

In the coming weeks, you’ll see Sts. Peter and Paul classrooms take initiative towards the common goal. The carnival should be viewed as an opportunity to raise money at the bake sale and lemonades stand, as well as a reward for their hard work.

100% of all proceeds will go towards scientific research fighting pediatric cancer through Alex’s Lemonade Stand. In addition, a portion of the donation provides financial assistance towards travel expenses for pediatric cancer families.

Your donation will make a difference in the lives of kids/families impacted by cancer.  Please consider a donation of any amount, especially as aid to those 10% of Leukemia families that might otherwise face a bleak future.

Aside from the event, our family thanks all of you, the Salesian community, for your continued support over the past two months.  Things would have been much more difficult if we had to face this challenge alone. We are so grateful!

With love,

Mike, Sara, Dylan, and Connor
